In 2008, Shipit acquired a Greenfield Concession of 130.000 m2 at the “Noordelijk Insteekdok” of the “Waaslandhaven” in the Port of Antwerp, where, during the next years, a multimodal logistical platform will be developed.
  To be able to finance the investments, DG Infra and Rent A Port were attracted as new shareholders. Towards the end of the first quarter of 2010, construction works have started, this brand new terminal will be operational, and will have, in a 1st phase, 15.000 m2 wharehouse at it’s disposal, with docking stations as well as all possibilities to handle a wide range of goods. Container Freight Station will be one of the main activities. 
The location of the terminal, adjacent to the container terminals and container depots in the Deurganckdok, as well as the possibility to pick up and deliver cargo and/or containers per rail, barge or truck, will be important assets. Shipit will also offer handling and warehousing, as a multimodal logistical platform. 
We still have the possibility to further develop the concept of the terminal and warehouses, if necessary adapted to the specific needs of a customer or a typical flow of goods. |
